I’ve got an electric bike you can have mate, it just needs a new inner tube on the back wheel.

This was part of a telephone conversation I had with my long time friend Kriss Kross. I drove over to his city centre apartment, had a coffee, collected the bike and proceeded to Halfords.

The staff at my local Halfords aren’t the friendliest of people. Approaching them was a bit like being confronted by a gang of football hooligans, so I opted to just buy an inner tube and do it myself!

I went home and this is where the wheels fell off (excuse the pun)

I managed to get the back wheel off easy enough and not too much struggle getting the inner tube changed. Over 2 hours later I was still struggling to get the wheel back on!

I mean, who thought it would be a good idea to put a drum brake on a bicycle? I was almost 3 hours into this now and my whole day had been sucked away on a flipping e bike.

I finally got the wheel back on and adjusted the rear brake.

I took it outside for a test ride, I got about 50 yards…

Then the front wheel decided it didn’t want to carry on living anymore! My head completely fell off!

I’ve fell out with the bike now and have no intention of making up with it until it decides to sort itself out.

What on god’s green earth does an e bike have to do with Cinematic?

Hang on, I’m getting there…

Before my head explodes, I need to unwind and what better way, than to tell you a little bit about Cinematic by the enigmatic Kaleb Wade.

Spacer

I’m sure by now you’re all well aware that I’m a big fan of Kaleb’s Frankenstein book test, if you didn’t know that, then you obviously didn’t read my Frankie post! I would advise you to read it, so you get a taste of just how smart this guy is.

FRANKENSTEIN REVIEW

What is Cinematic?

Spacer

According to Kaleb, Cinematic is a double movie revelation, although I would argue that this is in fact a triple revelation!

Both movie selections are made fairly and are completely justified.

The performer will know both of the selections almost instantly and on top of this the performer can also name the final chosen movies numerical ranking (third revelation) on the popular IMDB (internet movie data base) website for a puzzling and entertaining climax.

Not only that, but this doesn’t use any apps, yes you read that right:

NO APPS!

Spacer

No funny moves! No memorisation of IMDB! No stooges and certainly no undressing oneself in front of an adoring audience!

Cinematic uses multiple methods deceptively woven together, leaving no way for your participants to back track what has just happened.

Spacer

What you should know: This routine does require the use of a very special notepad, these notepads are readily available from your preferred magic supplier. Sorry but I can’t bring myself to call them magic dealers as it conjures up an entirely different image in my mind!

Moving swiftly on…

When I first read Cinematic the smart arse in my head said:

why not just use an app?

Spacer

Spacer

Well that smart arse in my head soon shut up, once I’d read through the entire routine and discovered the methods that Kaleb has incorporated to construct this Effom.

Spacer

Hold on, what the frig is an Effom?

An Effom is a word I’ve literally just created right now, it means:

Fantastic Feat Of Mentalism!

Spacer

Although an app may be a simpler way to achieve this effect, we also know that technology isn’t always the most reliable method. Anyway  it’s quite nice sometimes to indulge in these older methods and play around with your performances. There’s sure to be a time when you wished you had more than one way to achieve a certain effect.

Spacer

I’ve had an idea…

Spacer

Uh oh this could be dangerous!

There’s a part in the routine where you ask your participant to focus on their chosen film and picture a scene if they can. It’s just suddenly dawned on me that if you asked them to silently act out a scene from their movie (a lot like a game of charades), not only would this make the participant the star of the show but it also could create some real fun moments during the routine and create a lot of laughs.

Time to bring this post to a close

Spacer

I really like Cinematic, as a routine it has so much potential and you’re certainly not limited to just movies.

If the thought of carrying around a small notepad makes you want to start Tompinating around Brazil then fear not not my mental companions.

Spacer

Kaleb has thought of that too and he provides you with an alternative method, which will require nothing more than a little bit of time, DIY and some double blank playing cards.

Spacer

This Kaleb guy really does understand his craft, he creates inspiring effects that connect with his audience and leaves them utterly bewildered. The Cinematic routine is available from Kaleb in either as a PDF or a physical book and you can pick it up directly from his website: KalebWade.co.uk

Kaleb also has a deal on his website where you can pick up both Cinematic and AfterGlow for a discounted price.
