Early life

Born in 1985 in Essex, England. Luke Jermay displayed an early fascination with the mysteries of the mind, by the age of 15 he had already authored his first book on mentalism: 7 Deceptions, it quickly gained legendary status among mentalists for its depth, creativity and originality.

The book showcased advanced techniques far beyond what anyone would expect from a teenager but Luke wasn’t interested in just fooling people.

From the beginning, his work demonstrated a deep respect for theatrical structure and emotional storytelling.

He wanted to create mentalism that felt real and experiences that lingered in the minds of audiences long after the curtain had fallen.

Consultant to the stars

Luke Jermay’s talents did not go unnoticed by the entertainment industry.

In the early 2000s, he became a creative consultant for some of the biggest names in mentalism and magic.

He worked closely with Derren Brown, contributing ideas that would shape Derren’s legendary blend of psychology, suggestion and showmanship.

Luke also consulted for Criss Angel, adding psychological depth to his already dramatic illusions. His work helped bridge the gap between street magic and mentalism, exposing audiences to effects rooted in suggestion and subconscious influence.

Beyond the well known stars, Luke has worked behind the scenes for countless performers, supplying routines, presentations and psychological subtleties that continue to shape the industry.

Live performances

While many mentalists shine in close up settings or on television.

Luke Jermay found his true home on the theatrical stage, his live shows are masterclasses in structure, pacing and emotional engagement.

His show Sixth Sense, toured the UK and received rave reviews for its elegant storytelling, chilling demonstrations and sincere connection with the audience. His stage presence is not flashy, it’s deliberately calm and hypnotically engaging.

Spacer

He didn’t just perform tricks, he constructed narratives that resonated with his audience and they would leave his shows not only mystified but moved. His routines touched on themes of fate, intuition, personal transformation and memory.

Spacer

Luke invited spectators into a world where the mind is the theatre and their thoughts are the drama unfolding on stage. His stage performances showcased not just technical mastery but an emotional depth and psychological authenticity that few performers could match.

Scripts, psychology and suggestion

Spacer

What separates Luke Jermay from so many in the field is not just the quality of his effects but the philosophy behind them.

Spacer

He emphasised: Scripting is sacred, every word counts and Luke’s scripts are carefully constructed to guide not just thoughts but emotions and memories.

Spacer

Suggestion over sleights, many of his routines rely on influence,

subtle cues and embedded commands rather than mechanical methods.

Spacer

Authenticity over spectacle, whether he’s guiding a spectator through a past life regression or revealing a hidden memory, he always aims to create authentic moments of wonder.

Spacer

Luke has left his own indelible mark on the literature of mentalism.

His books, lectures and downloads delve into the mechanics of suggestion,

the art of anchoring and the subtle dynamics of audience psychology.

He blurs the line between practical technique and philosophical exploration, encouraging performers to look deeper into the why of their work.

Spacer

What really sets Luke’s work apart is the commitment to emotional realism.

He constantly pushes performers to connect deeper with their audiences,

to move beyond trickery and into true theatrical engagement.

His emphasis on narrative, character and human connection makes his material resonate beyond the technicality of a routine.

From consulting on Derren Brown’s shows to headlining his own critically acclaimed tours. Luke Jermay has proven time and again that he doesn’t just read minds, he reshapes them.

Luke Jermay’s enduring legacy

Spacer

Luke Jermay is not just a mentalist, he’s a philosopher of performance.

He has spent decades developing, refining and teaching methods that prioritise emotion, impact and connection over mere trickery.

Spacer

In a time where attention spans are shrinking, Luke Jermay reminds us that mentalism is not about what we do, it’s about how we make people feel.

Spacer

His legacy is still in the making but already his place amongst the greats of mentalism is secured. He’s not only changed the way mentalism is performed but the way it’s perceived too, by audiences and performers.

  1. Luke was a terrific mentalist but now he’s given up and gone back to being a magician theirs no need for him to be included in a mentalists resource

    1. Hi Steven,
Thanks for your comment but I have to politely disagree. Luke is still a great mentalist, he’s also a great magician.
No matter which label he prefers to go by should not distract anyone from acknowledging his achievements within mentalism and he has certainly earned his place amongst the greats.

      Regards

      Ryan
