It’s not often that a piece of mentalism makes me grin like a kid who’s just found the toy boat in a box of Frosties but that’s exactly what Glance 3.0 did.

What is Glance 3.0?

Glance 3.0 is a visual book test disguised as a natural object.

At first sight (pun intended), Glance 3.0 looks like a couple of perfectly ordinary magazines, something you’d find in a dentist’s waiting room, complete with realistic covers and celebrity gossip headlines. The secret hides in plain sight.

These magazines don’t look like props and Glance’s system allows you to instantly know which word someone is thinking of after they merely glance at a page. No fishing, peeking or endless flipping through the pages.

Just a glance!

It’s so natural that it almost feels unfair.

The true genius of this system lies in its psychology.

When you perform a book test, spectators expect a process. They might even expect you to ask them to stop at a page, think of a word and close the book.

With Glance, that expectation vanishes. You don’t look suspicious or magical. You look like any other ordinary human.

They’re sat flipping through a magazine casually, while you’re chatting some nonsense like:

Did you know that 87% of people read the same word twice when they glance at a page?

Then you reveal the exact word they were thinking of.

Their brain goes pop, their eyes go wobbly and they start replaying everything backwards.

Glance 3.0 doesn’t rely on sleight of hand or weird moves, it relies on intelligence and that’s what makes it a masterpiece.

I’ve owned just about every major book test released in the last decade and each one had its own charm and unique twist but Glance 3.0 sits in a league of its own.

I’ve used it in casual performances; in the gym, at a bar and even in a hospital corridor. Every single time, the reactions have been great. The pages look different to you than they do to the spectator. It’s got a devilishly clever design and you’ll appreciate the artistry once you understand how it works.

What’s new in version 3.0?

This update refines the entire experience with:

Improved printing quality and a more realistic magazine stock.

Optimised word distribution for faster recognition.

Updated layouts and subtle changes that enhance the deception.

Expanded routines, new ideas integrated into the instructions.

Essentially, Glance 3.0 feels more polished.

Practicality

Let’s talk about usability because that’s what matters most.

Learning curve: 10 minutes tops!

Reset time: Zero!

Angle sensitivity: None!

Durability: It’s a magazine; it’ll last if you treat it well.

It’s perfect for organic performances, those unplanned moments where someone ask you to show them something but you don’t want to seem too keen. You can pull out Glance like it’s nothing special, perform it and then just throw it aside.

That casual nature makes it hit ten times harder than a deck of cards or a dice.

Who It’s For

Glance 3.0 is for mentalists who value realism and subtlety.

Magicians looking to transition into mentalism without memorising a ton of psychological scripting.

Psychic entertainers who want props that feel natural.

What I Love Most

You can build entire routines around Glance, pseudo psychic readings, memory demonstrations, mind reading and even prediction reveals.

Here’s my favourite use:

After the spectator thinks of a word, give a short reading based on that word’s energy. Describe personality traits, choices or fears. All seemingly drawn from the chosen word, then reveal it.

They’ll be stunned not just because you knew their word but because everything said feels personal.

That’s the real power of Glance, it gives you a starting point for connection, not just deception.

Fragmented Thoughts

Glance 3.0 by Steven Thompson isn’t just a tool, it’s an evolution.

It’s a reminder that the best mentalism doesn’t need to feel like a performance, it just needs to feel real. Glance 3.0 captures that essence beautifully. It’s quick, smooth, disarming, and impossibly fair.

P.S. I’m well aware that my usual humour and oddly chosen images are missing from this post but my batteries are feeling a bit low, so give me a little while to recharge and I’ll be back to normal.
