Last year VanishingInc. Had the usual Black Friday sale. It ran for the whole week leading up to Black Friday, not only were the discounts huge and I mean HUGE!
But there were some pretty cool giveaways too. I got the Mentalism bundle download, it’s almost 3 hours of effects and explanations, so let’s dive straight in and see what’s on it:
After a quick introduction from Andi Gladwin and Joshua Jay, it kicks off with a cool effect from Roberto Giobbi, called Emotional Reaction.
This is a self-working trick that can be done impromptu with a borrowed deck.
Now you’re not going to fool Penn and Teller with this but that doesn’t mean to say it doesn’t have value. How many times have you dismissed a trick because the method wasn’t clever enough to satisfy your need to fool a magician?
I made this mistake recently whilst discussing pencil reading with a friend of mine, you’ll be able to read more on that when I finish my 13 steps post!
Back to emotional reaction;
Essentially this is a card trick and not what most would consider mentalism, but that’s subjective and I’m sure many a mindreader have used this principle for mentalism purposes.
It all comes down to how you frame it!
Next up; Morgan & West, teaching some two person coding.
I really enjoy telepathy acts, so I was very happy about seeing these two cheeky time travelling chaps on here.
Even if you have no desire to start doing a telepathy act, you’ll still find value in this section. The guys are so much fun to watch and their teaching is really simple and direct.
Moving on we have Andi Gladwin with an effect he calls aura.
This is a card trick where Andi has three spectators each pick a card, the cards get lost in the deck, Andy then finds their cards except for the last one. The third spectator finds their own card.
Nothing too mental about this one but I did like the method used for the M****D card and the deck S****H. The final card find is also cool. Although I probably won’t perform this I did really like it.
Definitely some value there!
Hector Chadwick/Steve Long was next with a lecture on equivoque.
I really enjoyed this lecture it was full of humour and the illustrations were great. Not to mention there was some bloody fantastic teaching, the ending was absolutely belting but I’ll tell you what…
I’ll never eat a blue M&M ever again!
Mark Elsdon next with Strange Oblique.
Mark plays psychic detective with a group of 5 people, through asking a series of seemingly unimportant and silly questions he can determine the one truth teller in the group. This is a great little game/routine you can play impromptu with a group of people, without gimmicks and you’ll always know who is the truth teller and the liars.
Great addition to anybody’s repertoire.
Next up The other brothers with hands down.
This is a which hand type of game which is really cool, the method is well hidden and one of the Darryl’s teaches a CT P**K which is a nice touch and can really help to beef out your performance.
Chris Corn next with One for the bar.
I’m going to be honest, I really don’t know why this is on here!
This is a card trick which I wouldn’t even consider putting on a mentalism download, unless I’m missing something this is a close up magic trick no matter which way you look at it.
They definitely saved the best for last though
ESPIDUS NOVUS by Jason Sobel
This is Jason’s take on the classic A****S Novus, his routine is made up of 3 phases and it’s great. I really like this routine, it’s playful and has some really strong hits.
So there you have it a my review of the VanishingInc 2021 Black Friday mentalism bundle.
I know I should’ve posted this sooner but I’ve had Covid (again)!
Anyway at least now you know what kind of deals they have.
Overall I’m very happy with this giveaway and I would highly recommend checking out
Take care and I’ll see you next time!
