Can the living really talk to the dead?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been around Tarot, Palmistry and people of a psychic disposition. My mum had a friend called Val, (Aunty Val to me) she was a stereotypical eccentric cat lady, she claimed to be a psychic Jewish Arab, she spoke in a posh and hypnotic tone a little bit like Alan Rickman and from a very young age she’d read my palm, teach me Tarot and tell me tales of an Occult nature. When I was about 13, she tried to convince me to join a monastery in Spain, she said it was a group that she had connections to, I think it might have been a cult! When I was 17 she wanted me to go to Israel and live on a kibbutz. She died last week and I wish I could’ve spent more time with her as she really was gloriously bonkers!
Let’s get back on track…
My mum is also a self-proclaimed ‘Psychic’ and has earned a good living from her readings and ‘spiritual’ advice.
I’ve met loads of people over the years who had stories about my mums’ ‘psychic’ abilities. I remember one woman telling me that my mum had told her she’ll have a win on the lottery in the coming weeks and she did have a win, it was only £150 but hey, a wins a win right?
Obviously that could quite easily have been a lucky guess, but for the woman who won that money there’s no way of convincing her that my mum isn’t psychic!
Others have said she predicted the gender of unborn children etc, but that’s not really impressive, as it’s just a 50/50 chance!
I have witnessed her ‘psychic’ ability myself though, when I first met my wife and we were in the courting phase. We were at my mums’ house and my mum said she had a message for her.
I was uninterested as I’d seen her do this kind of stuff since my childhood.
My wife was quite excited and couldn’t wait to hear what my mum had to say.
Then she started; “Who’s Colin?” My mum asked, at this point my wife seemed startled and didn’t speak.
She continued “Colin’s here and he wants me to tell you that he’s always watching over you and he loves you.
My wife started to cry and was saying “No, don’t”
My mum carried on telling her the message from Colin, but my wife was just sobbing.
Obviously this got my attention, “Who’s Colin?” I asked. But she just carried on sobbing hysterically.
I became quite agitated by this and I kept asking her “Who’s Colin?”
My first thought was that it was an ex-boyfriend, and I became a little jealous.
All the while my mum was just chattering away telling Her certain facts about this man Colin.
Eventually I snapped at my mum to shut up and snapped at my wife “Who’s this Colin?”
Through her tears she said “Colins my dad”
I’d met both her parents and neither of them are called Colin!
She then explained to me that Colin was her real dad, he died when she was 12 and the man she calls dad was actually her stepdad.
It was so painful for her that she never spoke of her real dad Colin.
My wife was from a town about 25 miles away from where we lived, her dad had been dead about 20 years and this was in the days long before the internet was a thing, so I really don’t know how my mum got this information.
Some have said it could’ve been a guess and it could be, but I’ll tell you what; That’s some guess if it was!
I too have had a message from beyond the grave.
My message was a real shocker for me:
I’d been with my wife to a spiritualist church quite a few times before and I’ve never been impressed by some of the things these so called psychics have said.
One night a ‘psychic’ professed to have the spirit of a printer, the actual machine not a person!
I mean, really? Come on, how does that work?
Anyway, one night I got a message, a ‘psychic’ pointed to me and said “Why am I getting tapping on glass?” I was puzzled by this as I thought he meant somebody tapping their fingers on a drinking glass.
He went on “It’s like little tiny stones being thrown at a window, a bedroom window, there’s a crack in the window and the window has a pink sticker, like the old radio station stickers. Does this make sense?”
It made perfect sense, as a young lad whenever I used to call for my best mate, he was notorious for not getting out of bed and his bedroom window was above the front door, complete with a huge crack and a pink radio station sticker, so whenever I knocked on for him, it was just easier to throw stones at his window to get his attention!
The ‘psychic’ went on “This is a young man who took his own life. He wasn’t your brother but everybody thought you were brothers because you both looked alike”.
This was perfectly true; people always thought me and him were brothers, because we were very similar.
The ‘psychic’ went on to say that we had a bit of a reputation, always in fights and were affectionately known as the Krays blah blah blah.
Although this could be deemed quite generic, it was all 100% correct.
He spoke about an incident with a motorbike.
This also rang true with me, I had a motorbike and gave him a backie once, I accidentally pulled a wheelie and flipped him off the back of it.
He always joked about never getting on a bike with me again.
There were a few other things in the messages too but I’m sure you get the idea.
Where we lived was about 25 miles away from where I was currently living, so it wasn’t exactly local news. Not to mention he’d already been dead about 6 years at this point.
There’s been a few other ‘spooky’ moments and I’ve had a few experiences that could convince me psychics might just be able to make contact with ‘the other side’, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I do believe.
I just can’t bring myself to blindly accept that psychics are real or that those experiences are real messages from beyond grave, even though I can’t explain them.
Let me know, do you think that people can communicate with the dead?
I’d love to hear your psychic tales or messages from beyond the grave.
